As we all know, 2020 has not been the year that everyone had planned, with couples across the world having to adapt their original wedding plans and even many postponing – more than once! If you’ve had your plans disrupted due to the current worldwide pandemic, our hearts really do go out to you here at South West wedding venues. It’s been incredibly difficult seeing how the covid-19 situation as affected both couples and the wedding industry – but all is not lost and instead, we are looking forward to seeing what 2021 has to bring. So, without further ado, here are just some of the reasons that next year is guaranteed to be a brighter one. We’ve put away our usual predicted wedding trends and we’re embracing positivity, meaningful moments and of course, love!
Micro Weddings
2020 has been a lesson for us all and that includes teaching us about the things that we appreciate and value the most in life. How we approach weddings will without a doubt change as a result of the pandemic, with more and more couples opting for something a little smaller but equally as special. Micro-weddings have always been on the radar, but the UK restrictions have propelled them into the forefront of the industry – with couples being able to invite 30 and then just 15 guests. The flexibility of a micro-wedding means you can really let your imagination run wild and make the most of your celebration, with extravagant feasts, OTT floral design and styling, as well as the chance to choose an utterly unique location to say ‘I Do’ – you may have spotted some seriously swoon-worthy South West wedding venues on our directory here.
Sourcing Local Suppliers
The past year has been tough on the wedding industry, with suppliers’ livelihoods dramatically affected due to endless postponements, cancellations and unpredictability. For that very reason, 2021 will see a surge in support for the industry, with brides and grooms shopping locally, buying British and seeking out independent businesses to bring big days to life.
Appreciation & Gratitude
Whether you’ve had to postpone your special day, or you’re newly engaged and feeling a little unsettled about booking a date for 2021, weddings will likely be even more meaningful going forwards. With that in mind, it’s the perfect time to step back and appreciate everything that’s happened – as well as cherishing the ability to be able to celebrate in 2021. Personalised thank you notes, handmade gifts and thoughtful speeches will mean the world to your loved ones.
Weekday Weddings
2021 is going to be mega for the industry, with original wedding dates and reschedules dates taking place throughout the year, as well as many couples considering budgets and venue availability. A mid-week wedding is just as magical as a weekend celebration – whether you’re having just a handful of guests or a larger affair with lots of friends and family. Don’t forget to swing by our directory and to have a little browse through some of our gorgeous South West wedding venues – many still have availability and special offers for spring and summer in 2021.
We hope you’re all feeling positive and optimistic about what 2021 will bring and we look forward to seeing couples celebrate their love stories.
